Glad to see the return of zoo news, even though most of it is rather grim!

I saw Pathi Harn at Taronga on Sunday and he and his fellow elephants were awe inspiring. They are great to watch because they're so playful.

There was another zoo baby born in NSW recently as well- lovely photos at http://www.smh.com.au/environment/conservation/charge-of-the-baby-rhino-brigade-20100321-qo6j.html

Sorry to have kept you waiting, Sarah. Zoo news posts take quite a long time - I do a fair amount of chasing links and fact-checking - so I keep putting them off. But I'll try to be more regular.

And thank you both for the news on Pathi Harna and the link to the rhino. It's a long time since I saw a rhino - I'll have to get along to Whipsnade (though I think they only have white rhinos there now: the last black rhino was sent to Chester a few years ago to breed).
