Still in a self-publicizing vein, here's the Archive Hour Tim Dee and I made for Radio 4 in March 2010, "Hurry Up Please, It's Time", about writers and pubs:
The title comes, obvs, from "The Waste Land", but there it's "HURRY UP PLEASE ITS TIME". I'm not sure how the punctuation crept in, whether it was me or the BBC. Sorry. As always, download before the IP lawyers get their fangs into me.
Anyway, last night I was at the launch of Tim's book Four Fields — o! the literary life, and o! the cheap white wine — where I met Olivia Laing, who as it happens has just published a book called The Trip to Echo Spring, on (American) writers and booze. If you need more information on the subject, you will know where to go.
